The 2002 IXA University Program workshop was held in Oregon at Intel's Jones Farm site in early June. About 120 participants including university faculty, students and Intel employees attended the two day event dedicated to showcasing the Intel(r) IXA work underway in over 30 universities around the world. The two days were filled with presentations on research being conducted as well as the curriculum design activities at participating universities.

Participants were also treated to several interesting demonstrations of Intel's latest networking and communications products and they were also given an overview of the next generations IXP Network Processors that were recently launched. This year, the workshop added the participation of three third-party IXP software developers, Teja(r), MontaVista(r) Software and Consystant(r) who demonstrated their products and offered free product licenses as well as internship and other benefits to the IXA university community.

Other major announcements made at the workshop were the upgrading of participating schools to IXP2400 PC boards in 2003 and the IXA University Program website - www.ixaedu.com that will give an overview of the program as well as offer faculty the opportunity of posting graduating students' resumes. This website will be closely tied to the Intel(r) IXA Developer Forum website and it is hoped that this link will help graduating students obtain jobs as Intel(r) IXA architecture specialists. The website is expected to be available in late August.
