Intel PRC IXA University Forum 2004 Review

Intel PRC IXA University Forum  2004, November 10-11

The Intel® PRC IXA University team routinely gathers professors, students and Intel specialists once a year to review the work done by the program schools as well review the latest news from Intel. This year the conference was held in Beijing.  The event attracted 57 participants from 19 universities with nearly 50% of these universities new to the program.  They brought in Doug Davis to deliver keynote speeches. Doug is General Manager of the CIG Infrastructure Processor Division and has been a strong supporter of the IXA University Program. Below is a brief overview of the Conference.

Day 1 - Morning Session

Julia Zhu began the event and welcomed the participants.  Doug Davis was then  introduced and he delivered his keynote presentation that covered innovation, the future of network processors, the importance of Intel/University relationship to innovation, and the future direction of the IXA University program. The rest of the morning contained: an overview of the IXA University Program in China; roadmap for the IXP2350 platform; industry project updates; and an introduction to the ENP2611, the IXP2400 development platform donated to the universities.

Day 1 - Afternoon Session

The afternoon session contained a presentation from Wind River and multiple presentations from IXA University participants.  Z. Wang, of Wind River, gave an update on VxWorks.  This was followed by University sharing on Curriculum and Research.  We heard from BJTU, BUPT, SCUT, SJTU, Tsinghua, UESTC, USTC, and XJTU.

Day 2

The final session contained development tool presentations, a Stareast project update/demo, and a group discussion on future plans for research and curriculum.

Again, special thanks to everyone who helped make this event successful.

We look forward to seeing you again next year!
